Baby's Room Light Fixture

Our baby's nursery light fixture was ugly.
Being that it was the original one in the house and we can't afford to replace it I thought I would give it a little love and see if I could make something cute out of it.
Of course, I wasn't able to get a picture of it before Phil started taking it down so I can't prove to you how bad it was but it looked like this one:

Words I would use to describe it: Gold, 80's, Wicker inlaced, Bad!

So we took the fan blades down and Phil sanded them so the paint would stick while I went to the store and got the spray paint.

I used ACE Premium "Antique White"

I laid them out and sprayed them with 3 layers. (Use as many as needed to cover your project) I think they turned out very well... the only problem is it didn't get rid of that ugly wicker stuff so I came up with glueing fabric over it.

I had this fabric lying around from our wedding (which added a special meaning) and it had the right colors for the baby's room!

(everything I used to make the blades)

I then drew the outline on the fabric and cut around it about 1/2 inch

Using a glue gun, I folded the edges and secured the fabric to the blade

These are the finish blades! Just needs to be put back on the light fixture.

Better than before:)

  1. I like your new fan/light except I hate the light covers... have you looked at some thrift stores for new ones? I bet you could find some really awesome ones!

  3. Yeah I've looked and it would be a cheap upgrade. Also I want to change it to silver. If we stay in the house for very much longer Ill do more:)
